Raga Hamsadhwani – You will love it

On a calm twilight, or even after stressful work, I would love to listen melodic piece of composition in Hamsadhwani Raga. No matter I am not trained in Indian Classical Music I could simply distinguish the intellectual musical set in this particular raga. My preferred versions somehow give the profound touch to the unfathomable chords. I frequently listen to the compositions of Pt Shivkumar Sharma in this Raga.

Hamsadhwani Raga is committed to the leisurely touching swan whose tone of voice is supposed to magnetize one & all on this globe. The nucleus meaning of Hamsa in Sanskrit signifies swan & dhwan indicates voice.

Let us discuss some brief information about Raga Hamsashwani. You would find that this raga does not include madhyamam or dhaivatam. The scale is pentatonic. The structure of arohana & avarohana is stated as under:

Arohan: S, R, G, P, N, S’

Avarohana: S’, N, P, G, R, S

The Vadi & Samvadi Swar for Raga Hamsadhwani is Rishabh & Pancham.

Hamsadhwani is expansively utilized in Hindustani Classical Music. Sampoorna Raga Bhairav

Raga Bhairav has been considered the most significant raga in Indian Classical Music for centuries. This raga has been recognized with affection & tranquility. Raga Bhairav has been occasionally interrelated to Raga Bhairavi with the companion of Bhairav (as the facet of Lord Shiva) of the similar name. 

Raga Bhairav is an early sunrise piece of music, connected with the insightful nature of isolation in the pre hours of first light. It calls to mind an atmosphere of meditation & peacefulness. The Bhairav Thaat is the warehouse for numerous sunrise ragas for instance, Ramkali, Jogiya & Bairagi, to name a few. The most important feature of Raga Bhairav is komal Rishabh which is harmonic with an andolan that moves backward and forward from Re to Sa and gives a soft touch to Gandhar.

Raag Puriya Dhanashree - Live in Hindustani classical music concert

The aarohan in Puriya Dhanashree is : N, r, G, M, d, N, S. This reveals that Pancham is not used quite frequently in the aarohan thus making it a shaadav aarohan. In other words it can be the aarohan with six notes. Live Hindustani Classical Music concert in Pune was performed by eminent Vocal Artist Pt. Shivanand Swami who sung beautiful Raag Puriya Dhanashree with Harmonium Saath by Madhur Bajaj.

It is affirmed that Rishabh & Dhaivat are komal in Raag Puriya Dhanashree or flat while Madhyam is tivra or sharp. Avarohan is as follows: S, N, d, P, M,G,M,r,G,r,S. While illuminating the Uttaranga element of this raga the idiom M,d,N,d,S is used to be in motion in the top octave. The changeover from the taara saptak Re to the Madhya Saptak Ni is normally all the way through the use of meendh.
