Basics of Indian Classical Music Lessons Vocal

 The Indian Classical Music Lessons Vocal requires you to understand the basics of Hindustani Classical Music for perfect rendering of the different ragas. A beginner should start by exploring these basic elements to make his base stronger. Some of the important elements of Indian Classical Music are:

Naad: The sound used in music is known as Naad and the one that is not used in classical music is termed as noise.

Saptak: The seven pure swaras or notes that are sung or written according to a particular order make a Saptak. The seven notes or swaras of Indian classical music are

•    Shadjam  or (Sa),
•    Rishabham or (re or ri),
•    Gandharam or (ga),
•    Madhyamam or (ma),
•    Pachamam or (pa),
•    Dhaivatam or (dha),
•    Nishadam or (ni)

The Indian classical music has been inspired from the natural sounds of animals that have been existent since ages and hence are said to be closer to divinity. Moreover, each swara is also associated with the seven chakras prevalent in human body. Sa- Peacock, Re- Bull/Skylark, Ga-Goat, Ma-the dove or heron, pa-nightingale or cuckoo, Dha-horse and Ni-elephant.

Shruti: The smallest pitch that can be detected by the human ear is known as Shruti. In a Saptak 22, places are marked as Shruti. Each of the shruti has its own significance in the classical music and student taking Indian Classical music lessons vocal should be aware of all of them. These include Kumudni, Tivra, Chadwati, Mandra, Ranjani, Dayawati, Rodhri, Ratika, Vajtrika, Karodha, Preeti, Prasarini, Marchani, Rakta, Shiti, Alapini, Sandepini, Rohini, Madnti, Ugra, Ramya, and Shobhine.
